Cllr Derrick Skinner

Cllr Derrick Skinner

Clay Cross Parish Council

Derrick has been a Clay Cross Parish Councillor since 2007. He is also District Councillor for Clay Cross South Ward, having previously held this position for Shirland Ward between 2011 and 2018.

"I was born in Clay Cross and have lived in the area all my life. I have been a member of the Labour Party since the age of 16 and before retirement, I was a Welfare Rights Officer. I am now a part-time invigilator for schools in the local area. My hobbies include jogging, walking, and cycling (when the bike is mended!)"

Derrick remains true to his long-held socialist values, striving for a more equal society without the extreme riches and poverty. He firmly believes that the NHS should be fully funded and remain available to everyone, industries and services should be re-nationalised, student grants should be re-introduced, and the pension age should be returned to 60 years of age for all.
