Winter Fuel Payment 2024/25 Eligibility Changes

Clay Cross Parish Council have recently been approached by a number of concerned residents following the Government announcement about the withdrawal of the Winter Fuel Payment. The link below can help you see if you are still eligible.

Derbyshire Unemployed Workers Centre hold a drop-in clinic at the Social Centre on Mondays 10am-1pm. They offer help and support with maximising your income and making sure you receive all the benefits you are entitled to. Come along and see a friendly face and they will do all they can to help you.

The Winter Fuel Payment is a state benefit paid once per year in England and Wales to people over pension-credit age. It is intended to cover the additional costs of heating over the winter months.

The Government announced in July 2024 that to be eligible you must have reached State Pension age and also receive a qualifying means-tested benefit.

You can get a Winter Fuel Payment for Winter 2024 to 2025 if you were born before 23 September 1958.

You must also live in England or Wales and get one of the following:

  • Pension Credit
  • Universal Credit
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Support
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit

Depending on your circumstances and date of birth, you will receive either £200 or £300.
